29 Sep - 1 Oct 2017 (FTX #1) - Miquelon Lake
27-29 Apr 2018 (FTX #2) - Miquelon Lake
Note that FTX's are occasionally postponed due to bad weather or poor field conditions. Any postponed event will be rescheduled.
All cadets are required to participate in two FTX's, typically one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Exercises are conducted over weekends; the squadron will depart Friday evening and return Sunday afternoon. Training includes many different skills such as shelter building, fire starting, GPS navigation, water collection, map and compass, safe use of equipment and many other lessons.
Training conducted on FTX is difficult to duplicate, so cadets are strongly encouraged to plan in advance to attend.
Cadets may sleep under hard cover, tents, or other shelters (lean-to's, etc.). All food is provided, however dietary restrictions must be discussed with staff in advance and individual arrangements may need to be made. A kit list is provided to cadets outlining required items and also prohibited items. Cadets are expected to follow the kit list closely and individuals who do not bring appropriate gear may not be allowed to participate. Senior cadets and officers will conduct a kit check on all cadets prior to departure.
Check the calendar events for more details.
