Who are the 287 Squadron Sponsoring Committee?

  • The Committee is made up of parents/guardians of cadets who have volunteered to assist with running a variety of functions for the squadron.

What are their responsibilities?

  • Raising funds for the squadron
  • Assisting in finding and enrolling staff members
  • Assisting in recruiting cadets
  • Screening volunteers
  • Participating in cadet promotion boards
  • Serving as a liaison between parents and staff members

Parents who are unable to attend meetings are encouraged to contact a member of the SSC to see if there are other ways you can help. We need a large number of volunteers with different skills and talents to assist in various capacities!

Please feel free to talk to any of these people regarding fundraising or League membership.

VOLUNTEER SCREENING PROCESS

The squadron needs volunteers to assist with planning, fundraising and the conduct of squadron training activities. In order to volunteer with Cadets there is a process that varies slightly depending on the level of involvement you will have directly with cadets. Please speak with the Squadron Sponsoring Committee or the Commanding Officer if you are interested and they will advise what your next steps would look like.

In order to be a screened driver for bottle drives, a police vulnerable sector screening is required. To obtain one, provide a copy of this letter to the police service where you live:

  • Beaumont Residents can obtain this records check from the RCMP at no charge.
  • Edmonton Residents apply online on the Edmonton Police Service website. (Cost $15 - reimbursable by SSC with receipt, takes 10 business days)

(Please note that there are other volunteer opportunities that do not require screening.)

Thank you to our generous sponsors and supporters!
